BOAT takes a look ahead at the most exciting yacht projects due for completion in 2020

The first hull in Damen’s much anticipated SeaXplorer 77 expedition yacht series is set to officially launch in September 2020. It comes after the customised explorer was transported to Vlissingen this year to begin outfitting. La Datcha was commissioned by an owner intending to use the yacht for surfing, diving and heliskiing. The impressive inventory of expedition equipment includes two helicopters, a helideck and hangar, dive centre and two tender garages fore and aft.

Due to launch in May 2020, Royal Huisman’s 81-metre in-build flagship Sea Eagle II will become one of the largest sailing yachts in the world upon delivery to her Asian owner. It comes after the yard revealed all systems on board were being tested and proofed as the yacht neared completion. Sold in summer 2016, with Northrop & Johnson introducing the client, Project RH400 was announced at the 2017 Monaco Yacht Show with the yard revealing that it will be the largest Asian-owned yacht, as well as the world's largest aluminium sailing yacht.

After hitting the water for the first time in December, the 75-metre superyacht from Feadship will have its official launch ceremony in April 2020. Previously known as Project 703, the multi-deck yacht has been designed inside and out by H2 Yacht Design and features naval architecture by Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects. The exterior of the yacht features low glass railings, high deck heights and expansive gangways while the interiors will be “elaborately detailed”, the yard said.
